Belgian police reported that there fatalities and injuries have resulted from the morning blast at Maalbeek metro station in the capital Brussels, according to AFP
The authorities shut down the city's metro system and the entire public transportation system shortly after a blast took place at Maalbeek station on Tuesday morning.
The blast on the metro took place shortly after two explosions at Brussels airport earlier on tuesday left several people dead and dozens injured.
The Maalbeek station is located close to the European Union (EU) buildings.
