Pakistani police say a suicide bomber attacked a vehicle ferrying policemen in the country's northwest, killing two and wounding a third officer.
Police officer Shah Nawaz says the attack took place on Friday as the officers drove through the northwestern town of Risalpur, a key town in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Nawaz says the slain officer, Akhtar Shah, had played a key role in arresting several Pakistani Taliban militants from the province.
Shah was known to be on the militant's hit lists and had survived several attempts on his life.
