A viral outbreak that began in China has infected more than 60,000 people globally. The World Health Organization has named the illness COVID-19, referring to its origin late last year and the coronavirus that causes it.

The latest figures reported by each government's health authority as of Wednesday in Beijing:

_ Mainland China: 1,367 deaths among 59,804 cases, mostly in the central province of Hubei.

_ Hong Kong: 51 cases, 1 death

_ Macao: 10

_ Japan: 251, including 218 from a cruise ship docked in Yokohama, 1 death

_ Singapore: 58

_ Thailand: 33

_ South Korea: 28

_ Malaysia: 19

_ Taiwan: 18

_ Vietnam: 16

_ Australia: 14

_ Germany: 16

_ United States: 15. Separately, one U.S. citizen died in China

_ France: 11

_ United Kingdom: 9

_ United Arab Emirates: 8

_ Canada: 7

_ Philippines: 3 cases, including 1 death

_ India: 3

_ Italy: 3

_ Russia: 2

_ Spain: 2

_ Belgium: 1
