U.S. crude oil prices rose above $90 a barrel on Tuesday to a fresh 26-month high on the back of extra demand for heating fuel in parts of Europe and the United States and a weaker dollar.

By 1005 GMT, crude oil prices were up 62 cents at $90 a barrel after rising to a daily high of $90.14 a barrel.

Temperatures in Europe's main heating hub of northwest Europe are expected to stay below seasonal norms over the next ten days, according to forecaster Meteorlogix.
