Egypt's trade deficit shrinks 25 pct in May: CAPMAS

Egypt's trade deficit narrowed by 24.6 percent year-on-year to $3.34 billion in May, the country's official statistics agency CAPMAS said on Tuesday.

Exports went up 1.6 percent to $2.68 billion due to a rise in fertilizers, readymade garments and plastics exports, CAPMAS said.

Imports, meanwhile, dipped 14.8 percent to $6.01 billion, in light of a decline in imports of steal, plastics, chemicals.
