Higher world oil prices pushed Algeria's trade surplus up to $4.24 billion in the first quarter of 2011 from $3.37 billion in the same period last year, a rise of around 25 per cent, official figures showed on Monday.

Exports were up 14 per cent compared with January-March 2010, while imports were up 10 per cent, the figures released by the customs service showed.
