Ahram Online , Tuesday 21 Jul 2015

Egypt's stock exchange will be closed on Thursday, which has been declared an official holiday for the commemoration of the country's 23 July revolution, the bourse said in a statement on Tuesday.

The country's finance ministry has also announced that it will hold an auction of LE6 billion of 182-day, 364-day treasury bills on Wednesday instead of Thursday, when banks will be closed, state-run news agency MENA reported.

Egypt's benchmark index inched up 0.33 percent on Tuesday after a four-day break from trading during Eid Al-Fitr, which marks the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, as market bellwether Commercial International Bank (CIB) rose 0.78 percent to trade at LE55.38.

Trading will resume on the following Sunday, the stock exchange said in its statement.
