Egypt plans to raise between one and 1.5 billion dollars from international markets by issuing bonds before the end of the calendar year, Samy Khallaf, the finance ministry’s head of debt management, told journalists at the Euromoney Egypt Conference on Monday.

The planned bond issuance is part of a $10 billion programme, of which $1.5 billion was raised in June at a yield of 6 percent for 10 years, said Khallaf.

June’s bond issuance, Egypt’s first in five years, drew more than $4.5 billion of investor orders.
