Egypt's annual core inflation rate was almost unchanged in September at 5.55 percent compared to 5.6 percent in August, the central bank said on Thursday.

The monthly core inflation rate inched up 0.79 percent in September compared to a decline of 0.23 percent in August.

Egypt's official statistics agency announced that the annual inflation rate rose to 9.2 percent in September compared to 7.88 percent in August due to a seasonal hike in vegetable prices.
