Egypt's producer price index climbed 20.04 per cent in the 12 months to May, against a 20.61 per cent rise in the year to April, the state statistics agency said on Sunday.
The website for the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) gave the following values for the producer price index, which takes 100 for the 2004/05 financial year as its benchmark:
May 2011 192.8
April 2011 187.2
May 2010 160.6
Egypt's government began using the new index in October 2007, replacing the old wholesale price index.
