Egypt's stocks closed 0.89 per cent down with the main benchmark, EGX30, reaching 4,325 points. Total market turnover finished at a low of LE175 million ($29 m) with 127 shares dropping and 43 gaining. 

The index had traded in the green during the morning but shifted its direction at around noon.
