The administrative headquarters of Banque du Caire in Nasr City, northeast Cairo, are currently on fire.
Black smoke is billowing from the building situated off Tayaran Street which houses the state-owned bank. The fire appears to be on the third floor of the 10-storey structure.
Fire engines are now at the scene and the building has been evacuated.
A bank employee standing on the pavement outside told Ahram Online that the fire was started by an electrical fault in the air-conditioning.
Banque du Caire's main records and admin facilities are situated on the 10th floor, he said.
