The European Union launched in Tunisia last week a four-year cooperation programme with the Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprises (BUSINESSMED) aimed at boosting the Mediterranean business ecosystem.

The project, titled EBSO Med-Enhancing Business Support Organizations and Business Networks in the Southern Neighbourhood, is designed to foster the private sector, promote economic growth and create new job opportunities in the region.

The project covers countries in the EU's Southern Neighbourhood region, which comprises Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia.

Among the project partners are the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations, Tunisia's Centre of Arab Woman for Training and Research CAWTAR, the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME), and the Brussels-based Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
