Egypt's Minister of Tourism Rania Al-Mashat signed a memorandum of understanding with her Bulgarian counterpart minister Nikolina Angelkova on Thursday on cooperation between the two ministries.

According to a statement issued by the Egyptian tourism ministry, the agreement includes articles on developing joint tourism products in the fields of cultural tourism, beach tourism, culinary tourism and other types of tourism.

Following the signing of the MoU in Burgas in Bulgaria, Al-Mashat and Angelkova discussed the possibility of organising trips between the two countries to promote tourism to Egypt.

Al-Mashat said she hoped the MoU will increase cooperation between the two countries.

Angelkova also announced that she would visit Egypt in October, heading a delegation from the Bulgarian tourism sector.

She said the possibility of declaring a twin-cities agreement between Alexandria in Egypt and Burgas in Bulgaria is being discussed.

Angelkova said she is looking to learn more about the current structural reform programme launched by the Egyptian ministry of tourism to upgrade the sector.

The ambassador of Egypt to Bulgaria attended the signing of the MoU.
