The head of Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) Mohamed Omran has announced that the FRA is set to establish a new centre that offers consultancy services for sustainability in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Omran said that the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is a partner in establishing this centre, which will serve as a source of raising awareness about sustainable development in MENA as well as promote the concept of a green economy.

Omran made the comments during a meeting with the manager of the Investment and Enterprise Division at UNCTAD James Zhan on Wednesday.

“The centre will be responsible for introducing technical support and advice to investors and government bodies with the aim of achieving the 17 sustainable development goals announced during the UN General Assembly meeting in 2015,” Omran added.
