Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat said that he is optimistic about the future of Egypt’s economy, especially in the information and communication technologies (ICT) sector, adding that the country's digital exports hit $3.6 million this year.

The minister said during the Euromoney Conference that all projects in ICT are 100 percent established by the private sector, whether by the local investors or foreign ones, and that the country is on the right track with its economic reforms.

He mentioned also that mobile penetration in Egypt is around 45 percent, and that the ministry aims to reach over 50 percent in the coming period.

“Egypt is playing a leading role in the ICT sector in the region and it is ready for more in the future, especially that it has a significant base of human resources,” he said.
