Minister of Tourism Rania Al-Mashaat said on Wednesday that Arab countries are one of the most important tourist export markets for Egypt, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism.

In a meeting with Ahmed bin Okail Al-Khateeb, the head of the Saudi General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage, Al-Mashaat said that Arab tourists traveling to Egypt represent around 30 percent of the total incoming tourism.

Saudi Arabia comes at the top of the list of Arab countries exporting tourists to Egypt, the minister said at the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the meetings of the Saudi Sovereign Fund.

The event is held under the auspices of Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman.

Mashaat hailed the efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia to enhance the tourism sector in the kingdom.

The two sides discussed means of boosting tourism cooperation in a way that will have a positive effect on inter-Arab tourism movement, added the statement.

The Saudi official described Egypt as having a special status in the hearts of the Saudi people, and that Saudi nationals are always seeking to visit Egypt to enjoy its tourist attractions.
