The Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX) started the week with a significant drop witnessed in Sunday's trading session.

The decline came on the back of the announcement of 33 new confirmed Coronavirus cases in Egypt, and the growth in cases in neighbouring countries.

At the beginning of Sunday's trading session, the EGX was forced to suspend trades on 25 companies that surpassed the downward trend limit of five percent.

The suspended companies included Ezz Steel, Heliopolis Company for Housing and Development, Alexandria Mineral Oils (AMOC), Orascom Investment Holding (OIH), and Orascom Developments.
