The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has shortened the working hours for the banking system in line with the new preventative measures the cabinet announced on Tuesday.

According to the CBE’s directives, banks will open their doors for clients from 9:30am to 1:30pm, while working hours for employees will be from 9am to 2pm.

Banks usually open for clients from 8:30am to 3pm, while working hours for employees are longer.

The Egyptian government has imposed a curfew from 7pm to 6am for two weeks as of Wednesday as part of stricter measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
