IKEA, the Swedish home furniture and accessories brand, announced it will inaugurate a permanent branch in 6th October City by March 2021.

In an online event held Wednesday, attended by Ahram Online, IKEA launched its 2021/2020 online catalogue for the first time in Egypt that includes discounts on more than 1,000 products and showcasing more than 1,700 new products.

It also launched its first of a kind mobile app that allows clients to control pieces within their homes remotely using their mobiles.

Thomas Sirguei, IKEA Egypt store manager, said that 2020 is a hard year for IKEA's business around the globe, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but with digital transformation solutions the company managed to surmount immediate challenges.

In November 2019, Emirates NBD-Egypt and the Egyptian Marakez Group, a subsidiary of the Saudi Al-Hokair Group, inked a long-term loan agreement worth EGP 395 million with IKEA to finance its new store at the Mall of Arabia in 6th of October City in Cairo, over an area of 20,000 square meters — the second branch of IKEA in the Egyptian market.
