Egypt’s ministry of finance extended the deadline of submitting real-estate tax returns through to the end of March 2021, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait announced on Tuesday.

Maait said that the action came in line with the pre-emptive measures that the government has taken amid the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It also came to reduce overcrowding in tax offices and to make it easier for individuals in general  to file tax returns amid the ongoing crisis.

The deadline of submitting such returns was expected to be by end of December.

The government has started to take a number of precautionary and preventive procedures in all sectors to curb the spread of the virus, including cancelling attendance in schools and limiting attendance of workers in some agencies.
