Egypt's central bank has opted to keep its benchmark overnight deposit and lending rates unchanged, as the government moves to support the local currency and inflation sits at a six-year low.

The bank's Monetary Policy Committee left its key lending rate at 10.25 per cent and the deposit rate at 9.25 per cent after its regular meeting, it said on its website on Thursday,.

Also left unchanged were the discount rate and the seven-day repurchase agreement which remain 9.5 and 9.75 per cent, respectively.
