"Egypt's Central Bank has decided to continue to close banks for Wednesday and Thursday," the agency reported, quoting a state television channel.
Weekends in Egypt fall on Friday and Saturday, so the announcement ensures that banks will stay shut until at least Sunday.
Banks were shut for 10 days after police vanished from the streets following clashes with anti-regime protesters on January 28, triggering a wave of looting and vandalism.
The banks were closed on Monday, after employees held protests outside government banks, and on Tuesday, a religious holiday.
