Egypt's PM in Amman to boost trade and energy ties

Hisham Qandil arrives in Jordan's capital Thursday, expected to discuss Egyptian workers' conditions and potential export of Egyptian gas with his Jordanian counterpart

Egypt's Prime Minister Hisham Qandil arrived in Jordan's capital Amman Thursday to hold talks with his Jordanian counterpart about developing strong bilateral relations as well as strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

The key issues expected to be discussed are the conditions of Egyptian workers and the potential export of Egyptian gas to the Hashemite kingdom.

The visit comes after the Egyptian government sealed a butane trade deal with Algeria in November as part of Egypt's efforts to boost bilateral energy cooperation with its Arab neighbours.  Qandil's visit is the first official visit to the kingdom since the January 2011 popular uprising.
