Central Bank of Egypt leaves benchmark rates unchanged

Key rates remain the same following CBE monetary policy committee's January meeting

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has decided to keep overnight deposit and lending rates unchanged, as the government moves to ensure price stability and shore up the local currency.

On Thursday, the CBE's website announced that the bank's monetary policy committee had left its key lending rate unchanged at 10.25 per cent and its deposit rate at 9.25 per cent.

Also left unchanged were the discount rate and seven-day repurchase agreement, which remain at 9.5 and 9.75 per cent respectively.
