Egyptian train drivers will wait for pay raises in May

Representatives of the railway workers union said that train drivers have postponed strike plans after meeting with Minister of Transportation Hatem Abdel-Latif on Saturday afternoon.

"We agreed that the ministry will give us a 10 percent raise beginning in May," said Hashem Rabeh, a union representative who attended the meeting.

Railway drivers and ticket collectors had threatened last week to shut down the country's railways then agreed to a proposal from the minister of manpower to facilitate negotiations with the minister of transportation.
