Atef Yassin was appointed chairperson of the Egyptian Stock Exchange on Thursday, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
Yassin, who was technical secretary at the bourse from 1994, will take up the position on 1 July.
Outgoing head, Mohamed Omran, who was appointed in September 2011, stated in 2012 that he intended to return to his academic work at Cairo University.
Ashraf Kamal was named deputy leader.
