25 Jan Revolution

A new account at the Central Bank of Egypt has been opened by Ministry of Finance (account number 25/01/2011) to support and bolster the Egyptian economy via donations and contributions from home and abroad, Minister of Finance Samir Radwan announced today.

The number of the account is being considered as confirmation of the government's appreciation of the glorious 25 January youth revolution.

Radwan said the account was opened in response to thousands of pledges received from Egyptians working abroad, who demanded to participate in efforts to foster the Egyptian economy in the face of losses caused during the recent unrest.

It has been agreed with Farouk Al-Okdathe, CBE governor, to receive donations and contributions of Egyptians abroad through the City Bank of New York on the account number 36001304, according to the Ministry of Finance.
