"Unfortunately, this month's cultural salon has been cancelled due to the key speaker's sudden announcement that she will not be able to attend," Nahla Matar, director of the Umm Kulthum Museum explained.

The Umm Kulthoum Museum was scheduled to host a cultural salon at 7:30pm on 7 May in the Manesterly Palace garden.

The key speaker of the cancelled event -- which planned to present archived material from an Umm Kulthum concert in Paris in the context of the discussion around the diva -- was novelist Ghada El-Wekil.
