 مسكوا القط مفتاح البرج

Masseku el qott moftah el borg

Translation: They gave the cat the key to the pigeon coop

Meaning: They put their trust in the wrong person. Cats cannot be entrusted with the safety of small birds, so giving a cat access to the pigeon house is a big mistake. Another surviving example of the same proverb is “eddu el qott moftah al karar,” or “they gave the cat the key to the cellar.”
