مكتوب علي ورق الحلاوة ما محبة الا بعد عداوة

Maktoub ala waraq al-halawa, ma mahabba ella ba’d adawah

Translation: It is written on the candy wrapper, love will be preceded by enmity

Meaning: Those whom you initially hate may become close friends. This rhymed couplet is meant to show that you should give people another chance, especially those who could be valuable friends to you. The second part of the couplet is normally recited on its own.
