El nas maqamat
Translation: People are of different statuses.
Meaning: This is more of a popular catchphrase than a full-fledged proverb. It means that, for whatever reason, some people are treated better than others. For example, if a friend comes over and you hurry to make room for them at the table, run to get them a drink, and then interrupt conversation to ask about their life, this is what your wife or son may say.
