The Supreme Elections Committee informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday that polls are now open for Egyptians living abroad.

To vote, Egyptians can download a ballot paper from www.elections2011.eg, fill it out and deliver it by mail or in person with all required documentation to the Egyptian embassy in their country of residence.

One Egyptian living in France informed Ahram Online that the government election website was not working on Thursday afternoon and she was concerned she would be unable to vote before polls close on Saturday.

Only three hundred thousand of the eight million Egyptians living abroad are registered to vote, and one third of those registered live in Saudi Arabia.

The deadline for submitting votes at embassies is 9pm on Saturday, 26 November.
