Freedom and Justice Party chief says new parliamentary majority will appoint coalition government as preliminary results suggest Islamist landslide

Mohamed Morsi, head of the Muslim Brotherhood’s ‎Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), said on Wednesday ‎that the incoming parliamentary majority would appoint a ‎new, coalition government. ‎

Preliminary results show the FJP leading Egypt’s first ‎post-Mubarak parliamentary polls.‎

Morsi added that the high turnout rate in Monday’s and ‎Tuesday’s vote, which exceeded 40 per cent, had ‎illustrated high levels of political awareness among the ‎Egyptian public. ‎
