Brotherhood and Islamists sweep Port Said vote

Three Islamist parties - the MB, Nour and Wasat - garnered the vast majority of votes in first round in the governorate of Port Said on the Suez Canal; liberal Wafd with good showing

Election results in Port Said have been announced.

Party list results:

The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party list - 95,510
Salafist Nour Party list - 60,879
Wafd Party list - 40,862
The moderate Islamist Wasat Party list - 37,829

Single seat results:

Freedom and Justice Party candidate Akram El-Shaer won the professional single seat with 51 per cent of the vote. 

There will be a runoff between ِthe liberal Egyptian Bloc candidate El-Badry Farghali and the Nour Party’s Aly Fouda for the workers’ seat.

Thirteen parties competed and 306,477 votes were cast.
