Zambia’s French coach Herve Renard confirmed on Tuesday that the Chipolopolo will have a tough mission in the Africa Cup of Nations semis when they meet African heavy-weight Ghana on Wednesday, and added there is no major difference between the two teams.
"Ghana are a title favourite, but they are not superior to my team," Herve Renard told the AFP.
"It’s true that Zambia are not the favourite to beat Ghana but in our minds we believe that we could," he added.
The French coach admitted the strength of Ghana’s squad, but confirmed that the Chipolopolo have faced a similar situation in the first round when they succeeded to beat Senegal 2-1 and to qualify for the second round at their expense.
"Ghana are looking for their first title since 1982; that why their players will be under pressure, which it is not the case in my team. It is true the Ghanaian squad includes some important players, but it was the same against Senegal," the French coach explained.
"Technically there is no a major difference between the two teams, but the Ghanaian player is more competitor than his counterpart in Zambia. Football is played initially in mind. That why you have to prepare well the players psychologically. It is our current target."
