Egypt court adjourns Abu-Ismail ‎case

Case filed to prove nationality of presidential hopeful's mother adjourned until Wednesday

Egypt's State Council has adjourned until Wednesday the case filed by Hazem Salah Abu-Ismail, wherein the presidential hopeful is demanding that the Ministry of Interior turnover official proof that his mother is a dual national.

The Egyptian interior and foreign ministries and the US State Department have said that his mother acquired a US passport before she died, but Abu-Ismail wants official evidence. If the allegation is proven he would be excluded from the presidential race set for later this spring.

Thousands of Abu-Ismail supporters have been demonstrating in Tahrir Square and in front of the State Council in solidarity with their favoured presidential candidate.
