Tunisia's veteran goalkeeper Aymen Mathlouthi will miss Monday's match against Zimbabwe in the African Cup of Nations due to injury, Tunisian Radio station MFM reported Sunday.
The Eagles of Carthage lost 2-0 against Senegal in their group stage opener before beating Algeria 2-1 to boost their chances of qualifying for the quarter final.
Mathlouthi, 32, delivered an outstanding performance in Thursday's win over Algeria but he was replaced in the dying minutes with Sfaxien's Rami Jridi after picking a calf injury.
The Étoile du Sahel keeper, Mathlouthi, is Tunisia's first-choice keeper.
"Mathlouthi is suffering from an injury. We are doing our best to prepare him for the Zimbabwe match, but I can't assure you that he will be available," Tunisia's Polish coach Henryk Kasperczak said in a press conference on Saturday.
According to the MFM report, it has not been determined yet how long Mathlouthi will remain on the sidelines.
Tunisia won the Nations Cup just once in their history when they hosted the biennial tournament in 2004.
They currently lie second in Group B with three points, three behind leaders Senegal. The Tunisians need to win or at least draw against Zimbabwe to reach the last eight.
