Egypt forward Mohamed Salah continued his treatment from a shoulder injury in Spain, giving a positive indication of his progress by posting a picture of him exercising in a gymnasium on Sunday.

"Good feelings," he wrote on his social media pages, with his Facebook post drawing more than 340 thousand reactions and 17 thousand likes.

Egypt's undisputed star faces a race against time to be fit for the World Cup after picking up a shoulder injury in Liverpool's 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final on 26 May.

The Egyptian Football Association said he needs three weeks to return to action.

The Pharaohs open their World Cup campaign against Uruguay on 15 June before facing hosts Russia four days later and concluding their Group A against Arab Gulf side Saudi Arabia on 25 June.

Salah's presence will be key to Egypt's chances of advancing to the knockout stage in only their third World Cup appearance.

He is credited for ending their 28-year wait for an appearance in the football's most prestigious showpiece, having netted five goals in six group games in the qualifying campaign, including a remarkable double in the decisive 2-1 victory at home to Congo last October.

The brace included a famous stoppage-time penalty, with Salah showing nerves of steel to send the keeper the wrong way from the spot and send more than 80,000 supporters into raptures at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium.
