Football fans have the chance to watch Africa Cup of Nations matches in VIP lounges at Cairo's International Stadium, Ahram Online has learnt.
Families can book a VIP lounge for $3,000 (around EGP 54,000) to watch a single Nations Cup game.
"Cairo stadium includes eight VIP lounges, with each holding 23 fans," a source told Ahram Online.
"These lounges were built as part of the country's plan to improve standards of the stadium in case we apply for hosting more tournaments like the World Cup," the source added.
Cairo stadium, the favourite home for the national team and Cairo's leading clubs Ahly and Zamalek, was renovated a few months before the tournament got after the country was granted the hosting rights in January instead of Cameroon.
The 75,000-seat venue, inaugurated in 1960, is hosting the matches of Group A that includes Egypt, Uganda, DR Congo and Zimbabwe.
After a successful opening ceremony at Cairo stadium on Friday, the Pharaohs grabbed a narrow 1-0 over Zimbabwe in the AFCON opener.
Ticket prices of the matches featuring the Egyptian team are at four tiers: EGP 150, EGP 400, EGP 600 and EGP 2,500 (approx. $145).
Tickets of other teams' matches were set at three tiers: EGP 100 (approx. $6), EGP 300, and EGP 500.
Record seven-time African champions Egypt will face DR Congo in their next game on Wednesday, before meeting Uganda in their last Group A match on 30 June.
