The band Egyptian Project will perform at El-Geneina Theatre joined by students from Al-Darb Al-Ahmar Arts School (DAAS), the outcome of a four day music workshop the band held at the school.

An electronic-folk band that merges electro, classical and trip hop sounds to underlying Egyptian tunes, Egyptian Project has been known from their first hit single titled Ya Amar, which toured at international festivals.

Founded by French musician and producer Jerome Ettinger, the members of Egyptian Project band include three Egyptian: Sayed Emam on vocals and the kawala instrument; Salama Metwally on the rababa and violin, and Ragab Sadek on percussion. The band also includes French musician Anthony Bondu on drums.

The band has performed internationally and locally at several festivals, including Paleo Festival in Switzerland, Fête de la musique in Egypt, and Festival d'été and Festival Les Nuits Métisses, as well as perforning at Paris's Grand Palais.

DAAS is an arts school in the economically underprivileged neighbourhood of Al-Darb Al-Ahmar, with students between eight and 18 years of age taught circus arts as well as music on brass instruments.

DAAS was founded by the Culture Resource (Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy) NGO in cooperation with the Aga Khan Music Initiative of the Aga Khan Development Network.

Currently the school operates under El-Genaina Company for Arts and Culture Services, and continues to be partnered with Aga Khan.
