Three awards go to joint German-Arab film project in Berlinale Talents

Robert Bosch Stiftung has revealed the three Film Prize winners as part of Berlinale Talents during the 66th Berlin International Film Festival

Three awards were announced this year for a joint Arab-German film project in the 66th Berlin International Film Festival, which runs until 21 February.

"Each year, the Robert Bosch Stiftung issues three Film Prizes for international cooperation between young German and Arab filmmakers to realize a joint film project. The prizes, each worth up to 60,000 euros, are awarded in the categories short animation, short fiction film, and short or feature length documentary," the Robert Bosch Stiftung website reads.

The website adds that the young filmmakers are given an opportunity to explore the methods and creative styles of their partner country.

The Film Prize for the documentary film project went to the Lebanese-German documentary Miguel's War by director Eliane Raheb and co-producers Lissi Muschol and Margot Haiböck. 

The Film Prize for the short fiction project was awarded to Tshweesh (Lebanon-Germany) by director Feyrouz Serhal and producer Stefan Gieren

The Film Prize for the animation film project went to Four Acts for Syria (Syria-Germany) by directors Waref Abu Quba and Kevrok Mourad, and producer Eva Illmer.

This year's jury included several renowned names from the film field: George David, Director of the Royal Film Commission of Jordan; Johannes Ebert, General Secretary of Goethe-Institute; Doris Hepp, Commissioning Editor of ZDF/Arte, Producer Roman Paul, founder of Razor Film Production Berlin; Hania Mroué, Director of Metropolis Art Cinema Beirut; Director Marianne Khoury, co-manager of Misr International Films Cairo, and Florian Weghorn, Programme Manager of Berlinale Talents.
