Art Alert: Cairo Opera House to open new season with a gala concert

The evening will include a series of beloved opera arias

The Cairo Opera House will launch the new season 2016/2017 on Thursday with a gala concert showcasing the soloists of the Cairo Opera Company: Iman Moustafa, Rasha Talaat, Dalia Farouk, Mona Rafla, Jolie Faizy, Hisham Elguindy, Mostafa Mohamed and Reda El Wakil .

The evening will directed by Abdalla Saad with participation of the Cairo Opera Ballet Company and the Cairo Opera Choir.

The Cairo Opera Orchestra will be conducted by David Crescenzi.

The programme will open with the Bacchanale dance from Camille Saint-Saëns's Samson and Delilah, performed by the Cairo Opera Ballet Company.

The arias that will follow include:

-- Puccini: In quelle trine morbide from Manon Lescaut (Iman Mostafa)

-- Bizet: Toreador's aria from Carmen (Mostafa Mohamed and choir)

-- Bizet: Chanson Boheme from Carmen (Jolie Faizy and ballet)

-- Gounod: Ah je veux vivre from Romeo and Juliette (Dalia Farouk)

-- Verdi: Come dal ciel precipita from Macbeth (Reda El Wakil)

-- Arditi: Il Bacio (The Kiss) Waltz Song (Rasha Talaat and ballet)

-- Gounod: Le Veau d'Or, from Faust (Reda El Wakil, choir and ballet)

-- Borodin: Polovtsian dances from Prince Igor (Cairo Opera Ballet Company)

-- Puccinti: Bimba dagli occhi pieni di malia duet from Madame Butterfly (Iman Mostafa and Hisham El Guindy)

-- Catalini: Ebben! Ne andrò lontana, Wally's aria from La Wally (Mona Rafla)

-- Kálmán/ F. Lehar: Potpourri Die Csardasfurstin (The Gypsy Princess) The Merry Widow (Iman Mostafa, Mona Rafla, Rasha Talaat, Dalia Farouk, Hisham El Guindy, Mostafa Mohamed, choir and ballet)
