The 13 edition of the Arab Short Film Festival in Beirut will screen a selection of shorts from Egypt’s Animation 8 studio on 5 December, and will honor two of Egypt's top directors, Nabeeha Lotfy and Khairy Beshara.

The films were produced as part of Animation 8’s project ‘Qaseer Gedan’ (Very Short), a workshop which ran throughout 2016 with the support of the Arab Fund for Art and Culture (AFAC).

The project aimed at discovering talents, and developing them with a workshop for very short films that run under 2 minutes. The workshop resulted in 6 very short films, three fiction films and three documentaries.

The screenings will be held at cinema Empire Metropolis Sofil with the attendance of some of the directors and members of Animation 8 team.

This edition of the Arab Short Film Festival celebrates Egyptian cinema, and will honour two of its icons; late director Nabeeha Lotfy and director Khairy Beshara, who also heads the festival’s jury.

Animation 8 is a Cairo based platform founded in 2014, to offer guidance, training, technological support that help support talents and develop artistic projects.
