The Egyptian presence is tangible at Algeria’s Oran International Arabic Film Festival as it opens with Egyptian film Karma, and honours late Egyptian singer, actress Shadia.

The festival, which opens 25 July, also invited as guests of honour Egyptian actor Mohamed Ali, and Egyptian singer Afar Shoeib.

This edition will include 38 films in the official competition: 10 feature films, 14 documentaries and 14 shorts.

In parallel to the screenings, a series of five lectures and five workshops will take place, including one led by Algerian actress Nawal Madani.

Additionally, screenings out of the competition will be held outside the city of Oran as the festival expands its scope, including the city of Sidi Balaabas where many side-events will be held.
