Egyptian actress Yosra El-Lozy was selected to participate in the all-women international jury for the 12th Sela International Women’s Festival in Algeria.
The festival opens on 24 September, and is organized by the Abi Reqraq organisation.
The festival focuses on women’s subjects and issues and includes an international competition for feature-length films, as well as Moroccan feature-length and short films, which will run alongside a programme of seminars, talks, and workshops.
The Abi Reqraq organization was founded 30 years ago, and has since been socially, economically, and culturally active in the development of the city of Sela. The festival is one of the platforms that fulfill its aim to encourage conversations, tolerance, and acceptance of all people.
El-Lozy is an award-winning actress who made her film debut in Youssef Chahine’s film Alexandria...New York (2004).
She has since won several awards and nominations for her roles in Egyptian films including Qobolat Masrouqa (2008), Bel Alwan El-Tabeaya (2009), Heliopolis (2010) and Microphone (2011).
