Family and friends of Egypt’s legendary film critic and historian Youssef Cherif Rizkallah, who died early Friday at the age of 76, will receive condolences Monday at Omar Makram mosque in Tahrir.
Rizkallah, who died due to kidney problems, is an iconic critic who helped in making Hollywood movie reviews popular in the Middle East through presenting and producing a number of important TV shows since the 60s, including Oscar and Telecinema.
The well known journalist, who wrote thousands of movie reviews for Egyptian and Arab newspapers, magazines, radio stations, and TV shows, participated in many film festivals around the world and was the Technical Director of the Cairo International Film Festival for years.
Tens of critics and cinema creators joined his funeral on Friday with hundreds of other admirers stating heartfelt and emotional words of condolences to mourn his loss.
