Mohamed Hefzy, president of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), signed a protocol of cooperation with Cairo University to facilitate the attendance of students at the festival's screenings and activities.
Hoping to build a larger audience among the younger generation, the protocol includes allocation of 50 percent discounted tickets for Cairo University students, as well as invitations to numerous conferences and master classes.
Hefzy said the initiative will bring the young generation closer to the local and international cinema of today, adding that art is a universal human language.
Cairo University President Mohamed Othman El-Khesht said the university believes in the importance of the arts in developing the mind and building the human conscience.
The protocol of cooperation was signed on Cairo University grounds in the presence of Hefzy, El-Khesht and Ahmed Shawky, the festival's deputy artistic director.
The 41st Cairo International Film Festival will take place 20-29 November. During the festival days, 150 films will be screened, 35 of which will be international or regional premieres.
