Lebanese singer Elissa will give a concert on 13 December at MUST Opera House, a 1023-seat concert hall located within the Misr University premises in 6 October City, on the outskirts of Cairo.
Born in 1972 to a Syrian mother and a Lebanese father, Elissa studied political science at the Lebanese University, and at first took music as a side interest.
When in 1992 she won the silver medal in Studio Al-Fann, a Lebanese singing competition, her career took off. She soon became one of the famous names in the musical scene.
With over 30 million albums sold, she has received the World Music Award for Best Selling Middle Eastern Artist three times: in 2005 (being the first Lebanese singer to win this award), 2006 and 2010.
Elissa collaborated with many well-known Arab and international musicians, such as Ragheb Alama, Chris de Burgh, Cheb Mami, Fadl Shaker, and Tamer Hosny.
One of the richest Lebanese celebrities and enjoying a wide base of fans, Elissa is often criticised for the exorbitant prices of her concert tickets.
