For the second Cairo Industry Days (CID), from 21 to 26 November, nine Arab projects have been selected for the Screen Buzz's TV Script Development Workshop.

Sponsored by Lagoonie Film Production, Screen Buzz will also present a master class during the CID as part of the Cairo International Film Festival's (CIFF) 41st edition, which is also seeing various panels and activities in several venues.

The four-day workshop, which is focusing on developing TV projects from the Arab world, is designed to "give an opportunity to the participating Arab screenwriters to learn from top Hollywood experts who have achieved international success."

The workshop will be led by Robin Gurney, Senior Vice President of Original Programming at Showtime Networks, and screenwriter and producer Mark Goffman (Netflix's The Umbrella Academy and NBC's The West Wing), along with Creative Producer/Executive/Consultant Karen Tenkhoff (The Motorcycle Diaries and The Horse Whisperer).

"Powered by the non-profit AAM, Screen Buzz is an innovative series of creative workshops bringing top Hollywood writers, directors and producers to the Arab world to support local storytellers in the creation of original, purpose driven content for global audiences," reads a statement on the CIFF's website.

Cairo Industry Days, founded last year, provides a space for discussions, networking, meetings, workshops, masterclasses and partnership opportunities between Arab filmmakers and regional and international key industry professionals to further support Arab Cinema.

Organised by Egypt's Ministry of Culture, the CIFF will see various activities including the screening of around 150 films (130 feature films and 20 shorts) representing 63 countries. The festival is being helmed by Egyptian producer Mohamed Hefzy, who is leading his second successive edition.
